My father Alan Cernak, who shares my studio at the GoggleWorks Center for the Arts (goggleworks.org) was just accepted for an Artist Residency at a place called Studio Kura in Fukuoka, Japan! At this residency, his aim is to create giant interactive origami sculpture he calls Ugoki-Gami ("moving paper"). the Kickstarter page shows photo and video of the foam and paper prototype versions. but going to Japan to take this amazing opportunity will be very expensive, and so this Kickstarter is to help raise money for travel and material expenses. if you could share and pass along the link/info on your page or on any other networking sites you might have, we would be very very grateful! rewards for backing the project include glossy art prints of my work and his, and origami sculptures and decor (including "mini" versions of the ugoki-gami and other sculptural origami!). examples of rewards and poster options can be seen in my gallery here on dA, on the Kickstarter site and on the sites below:

I am back
Hello, DeviantArt!!
Many things have happened and it's been a long road, but at last I am able to fully return to the world of drawing things (!)
I see that my last journal entry on here was from 2015, and I know that my activity on dA had started to flag before that.
If you are still watching me after all this time...I thank you, truly! And I apologize for my inactivity, especially over the last three years.
To make a long story short:
-From 2014-2016, I was one of the primary caregivers for one of my grandmothers.
-This, combined with completing my last few undergraduate courses, consumed a large percentage of my available time.

WOW! I apologize for the absence of uploads and updates these past months!
I recently got a new part-time position as a social media promoter for an American manga publisher, and have also been doing more Japanese-English translating work than before both for the Huffington Post and for GEN Manga.
I'll leave links below to the articles and books I've been working on!
I still have a variety of art projects going on (including a prospective large mur

Hello hello! Things have been busy and I haven’t been posting much, but I hope to get back to that. Thank you to those who have watched me recently and I promise to upload some new things soon!
In the meantime, I have some NEWS that I wanted to share!
1) we may be RELOCATING! Studio 306 at the GoggleWorks has been a good home to us for a long time, but we may be leaving there this summer and opening a store. Right now we are looking to open eith

Sorry I've been so inactive on dA lately. I hope to fix that soon. For now, though, the Otakon entry!
I had a wonderful time and look forward to going back next year.
I wanted to give a big shout-out Thank You So Much! to all who attended myJapanese Language and Culture workshop on Saturday evening. You guys were some of the best audience I've had! It's always fun when people ask a lot of questions — it keeps the discussion varied and it lets me know
